It’s amazing how hardy some summer blooms are—in particular—Dahlias. Here it is, mid October, and they are still standing tall with their heads still reaching for the sky. Here in the Pacific Northwest, we just got slammed with our first, big autumn stormy weather. I’m not so sure the dahlias are still standing tall. Fortunately, I took advantage of the calm before the storm and ventured out to my local park gardens to see what was still blooming. I was surprised to find the Dahlia garden still intact with colorful blooms. Yes, some were drooping and others withered away, their best showing a thing of the past; however, the majority appeared quite healthy. Have a look at some of these autumn beauties.
So long, beautiful dahlias! Thank you for your star-studded, long-playing show!
Another late bloomer is the Fuchsia. They come in many varieties and colors, as well. Here are a few photos I snapped in the same park.
