With all the talk about “supermoons,” I thought I would go out tonight and see where the moon was rising in relation to Mount Rainier. So, here you have it. This image was taken in Tacoma, Washington. The trick is to photograph her just when the sunset light reflects long enough to make it glow pink. Some sunsets can really make her glow an intense pink. Not so much tonight, though. But it was beautiful, just the same. Below are some shots of her I took tonight just before her pale pink alpenglow and some during it.
Now, here are some shots during the pale pink alpenglow.
And, when the pink glow has disappeared. That’s when it’s time to put down the camera.
Goodnight mountain! Hello moon!
